
Medical Technologist I – Non Traditional

Job Description
The Medical Technologist I plays an integral role in the daily functioning at Reditus Laboratories. The Med Tech I will perform various moderate and high-complexity clinical tests that will be used to access a patient’s health status and diagnose, monitor, and treat disease processes. Medical Technologists must adhere to good laboratory practices for accurate testing, analysis, and reporting of clinical results. They will be expected to keep up with current laboratory standards established by CLIA and the College of American Pathologist (CAP) and participate in continuous education opportunities.
Description of Duties:
1. Adhere to laboratory safety standards when working with blood-borne pathogens, reagents, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.
2. Adhere to HIPPA regulations.
3. Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions outlined in laboratory policies and procedures.
4.Must show attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and be able to prioritize workflow in a busy laboratory setting.
5.Must be able to communicate effectively with pathologist, providers, and other healthcare professionals.
6.Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration procedures on various automated laboratory instrumentation.
7.Perform Quality Control and evaluate status of equipment.
8.Maintain accurate documentation, record keeping, and data integrity.
9.Ensure specimens meet requirements for testing.
10.Maintains a clean work environment.
11.Perform clinical testing in one or more areas of the laboratory.
12.Analyze and accurately report results of clinical testing.
13.Know and recognize critical values and call them to providers.
14.Performs other duties as required which are reasonable within the scope of the duties indicated above.
Requirements:
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, biological, or physical science from a recognized university.
Acceptable Education:
Associates degree in chemical, biological, or physical science from a recognized college or university.
Experience:
This is an entry level position for new graduates or those with less than one year of laboratory experience. If the technologist has more than one year of experience outside of Reditus, they will begin as a Medical Technologist I but be eligible to become a Medical Technologist II once they have completed a 90-day training and evaluation.
